The brewery Rushing Duck in Chester, New York has, over the years, commissioned me to design labels for some of their more special and unique brews. A collaboration I always look forward to, they continue to have great ideas that I can run with.
A friend commissioned me to design the logo for his hockey team. The idea is a reference to the 1986 movie YOUNGBLOOD in which an ice hockey coach insults some players during tryouts that “You’ll be lucky if you’re drafted by the Tallahassee Warthogs.”
Requirements for the design were
1. The name Warthogs
2. A warthog playing hockey
3. The warthog must have great “flow” which in hockey terms just means great, long hair.
I had a blast designing this and the team loved it.
A variety of commissioned and personal works.
This was my logo, of sorts, for a time.
This was for a client who bred bull terriers specifically for hunting feral pigs.
This was entered in the t-shirt contest for a podcast I used to listen to. It won!
This piece was done as part of a promotional art gallery for the release of Seirranevada’s hard kombucha “Strainge Beast”.
My Christmas card a few years ago.
These were header cards for some sofubi (soft vinyl) toys based on HP Lovecraft characters.
To say I love Japanese giant monster movies is an understatement.
Designing a giant box for a foot tall collectible figure of GORGO was a dream project. I grew up with this movie! Gorgo is basically England’s answer to Godzilla so instead of pagodas and high tension towers I got to draw old brick buildings, a red double decker bus, and Big Ben.
Drawing giant dinosaur monsters is a natural habit for me but I did very much enjoy recreating the font from old promotional posters of this movie.
This was a header card for a collectible sofubi (soft vinyl) toy based on an original character. Another blast of a commission that taught me the fun of drawing luchador wrestling moves.
Sketch options for the layout.
